Corporate Social Responsibility

Making A Difference In Our Local Communities

At WNS Assistance we believe that, as well as providing outstanding service to our customers, it is important to make a positive difference to the communities in which we work and live.

We take a personal approach to corporate social responsibility, supporting initiatives in East Anglia, the Midlands and the North West. For us, community support is about more than simply sending funds out to charities, it’s about taking the time to make a real difference, and our team members readily enjoy fundraising and being involved in local projects.

The WNS Cares Foundation

WNS Cares FoundationThe WNS Cares Foundation was set up in the UK in 2012 with the aim of supporting one child for every two of our employees. Basing our mission, ethos and values in line with the Group initiative, we have spent much time researching local charities, with a focus on promoting education for underprivileged children, while also spreading our support further into the community for a range of other charitable organisations.

Funds donated by WNS Cares Foundation are raised entirely by WNS Assistance staff. This is accomplished in a number of ways, including our monthly dress down days, during which our employees each donate £1. This totals around £7,000 per year.

Our staff are also keen to make a difference in other ways, volunteering their time, arranging events, such as our Mansfield office’s Strawberry Tea Party in aid of Breast Cancer Care, and donating toys and gifts to children’s charities at Christmas time.

Since 2012 the WNS Cares Foundation in the UK has grown – we have 185 staff nationwide and, rather than helping one child for every two of our employees, the initiative now benefits 110 children, with plans to expand at every possible opportunity.

The charities benefitting from funds raised by the WNS Cares Foundation in the UK include:

Together Trust

The Together Trust is a charity that offers care, support and special education to children, adults and families in North West England and the surrounding areas. Their Ashcroft School facility provides personalised education for disadvantaged 8-18 year olds.

WNS Assistance has been working with the Together Trust since 2012, supporting the charity through a variety of activities, from dress down days through to Easter egg appeals.

We also provide ingredients for cookery lessons, helping the students leaving Ashcroft School to live independently, providing invaluable life skills and preparation for life outside care.

Montgomery Road

Montgomery Road is an ‘Education Other Than School’ provision for children unable to access mainstream schooling due to behavioural or autism spectrum disorders.

All the young people attending Montgomery Road have complicated home lives and wider social issues affecting their ability to participate. We have been providing a healthy breakfast, allowing students to start the day in a social environment with others, since September 2013.

St Elizabeth Hospice

St Elizabeth Hospice

St Elizabeth Hospice is dedicated to providing specialist care and support for people in east Suffolk and Waveney living with a progressive illness such as cancer, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s and heart failure. Their work is centred around an individual’s needs, which means specialist support, wherever it is required – at home, in the community or at the Hospice.

In 2015 staff members, including members of the senior management team, saddled up and joined the team of 51 people taking to the highways to cycle 324 miles, from London to Paris, over the course of four days. The WNS Assistance team raised over £1,200 to help the Hospice fund their vital care and support.
